Design camp for school students
Design Thinking for Schools, with Wellington City Council
Wellington City Council is a territorial authority in the Wellington urban area of New Zealand. It is New Zealand's third-largest city by population.
To learn more about design thinking and how it could benefit the council and the local region, WCC asked Empathy to run a design camp for local school students.
We worked with the council to identify a local issue (storm water), and invited 30 children from local school aged 16 to 17 to work through the design thinking process.
Students interviewed stakeholders and local Wellingtonian’s to understand the problem at hand and went through the full experience designing some amazing solutions to the problem.
Council representatives were so impressed with the outcomes they’re investigating how to bring them to life.
